Cardiff-based Driverly, provider of a unique, app-based car insurance service, today reveals the results of an intensive study of driving behaviour, accident records and traffic volume data to identify the 5 most dangerous sections on Britain’s roads.

“The sole purpose of the study was to help us determine the risk factors associated with driving on UK roads with a view to helping us to find ways to reduce risk for our customers and therefore eventually reduce premiums, when we launch our insurance product. Using available data alongside our own telematics we were able to deduce which road sections in Britain are statistically the most dangerous. This obviously involved setting a threshold for a road to qualify based on regular usage and volumes of traffic. This doesn’t necessarily mean these roads should be avoided of course, because that would be impractical, but what it does mean is that by building a better understanding of risk at a micro level we can eventually offer insurance products that are geared towards driving behaviour and driving context, the key elements in making roads safer and insurance more affordable.”
